Intense Tremors Shake Delhi-NCR and Northern India as Nepal Hit by 6.4 Magnitude Earthquake

Late on the night of November 3, a powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake in Nepal sent strong tremors rippling through the Delhi-NCR region and other areas of northern India, including Prayagraj, Faridabad, Gurugram, Bhagpat, Varanasi, Sultanpur, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, and Mirzapur.

The earthquake struck around 11:32 pm and, although the tremors lasted for several seconds, no reports of casualties or significant damages have been received at this time. A magnitude 6.4 earthquake is considered relatively strong. The epicenter was located in Nepal at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the National Centre of Seismology (NCS).

The NCS posted on its official platform, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 6.4, Occurred on 03-11-2023, 23:32:54 IST, Lat: 28.84 & Long: 82.19, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Nepal.”

Bihar also felt the quake’s impact, with strong tremors reported in Patna, prompting residents to quickly exit their homes. The tremors persisted for approximately 15-20 seconds.

“The tremors were felt for quite some time as we were watching television and enjoying the weekend,” said Inderjit Singh, a resident of Gurugram.

Gopal, a resident of Ghaziabad, said the tremors were felt for more than 15 seconds. “I could also hear the window panes rattling”.

“The tremors felt really strong. The feeling was scary,” said Pratyush Singh, a resident of a group housing society in Sector 76 Noida.
